What does “bun thit nuong” means anyway? Well, “bun” is a vietnamese term for Rice Vermicelli Noodles, the white noodle, while “thit nuong” is just grill pork. Charcoal grilled pork on skewers with noodles, or “Bun thit nuong” is a nice meal to have for breakfast or lunch. Even more because it is delicious with the freshness of noodles and vegetables combine with the juicy meat. The best thing about this is that it is really cheap, for only $1.25! Better than your school’s lunch!

Well, I’m going to talk about South-Vietnamese-style Bun thit nuong and how to make it.
Ingredients :
_ 1.5 pounds of pork (better if it’s lean meat)
_ 4-5 pieces of fried spring rolls
_ 2.2 pounds of Rice Vermicelli Noodles
_ 0.22 pounds of roasted peanut
_ All kinds of vegetables you like
Step 1 : Processing the ingredients
- After buying pork meat, clean it, let it dried and sliced into a bowl. Marinate meat with onion and minced garlic, sugar, soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, honey and mix well with the sugar. Then leave the meat soaked in spices for at least 1 hour (if possible, marinate meat overnight).
- The vegetables, after being purchased, take out the parts that are old and inedible, wash and drain. Cucumber washed and cut into slices to smaller sizes.
- Put the fresh vermicelli in boiling water only for 2-3 minutes.
- Peanuts peeled and crushed to smaller sizes.
Step 2 : Marinate the meat
- 1 teaspoon of onion and 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- ½ tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- ½ tablespoon honey and mix well.
- Then, put the meat in the refrigerator to keep the meat soaked in spices for at least 1 hour (if possible, marinate meat overnight).
Step 3 : Grill the meat
Grill the meat at 375 F degrees for 10 – 15 minutes.
Step 4 : Make sweet and sour fish sauce
- You make fish sauce with the following formula:
- 2 tablespoons of fish sauce
- 2 tablespoons of lemon
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 4 tablespoons of water
- 2 teaspoons garlic, minced chilli
- stir well
